Bold Reds

Applegate & Rogue Valley — Wine Trail

Bold reds. The big & beautiful trail.

Southern Oregon’s reds are as rich in character as the ground that shapes them. Sun-drenched days, cold nights, and a mess of different soils make Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet, and Tannat with real depth. Built for fireside sipping, hearty pairings, or the cellar.

  • The region’s award-winning red varietals, in one run
  • For anyone who likes a full-bodied, structured wine
  • Vineyard settings that come into their own in cooler months
  • Made for artisan cheese, charcuterie, and local fare

WHY THE REDS GET BIG HEREHot days, cold nights

Hot days, cold nights

Summer afternoons in the Applegate run hot enough to ripen thick-skinned reds all the way through, and then the temperature drops twenty or thirty degrees after dark. The heat builds sugar and color; the cold hangs onto acid. That swing is why a Tannat or a Tempranillo grown here can be big without going flabby — and why the same grape tastes nothing like its Willamette cousin.
